Re: Starter Pack.
Message: Greetings. Throughout my 30-plus years in America, I’ve documented more than 100 behavioral patterns executed by beige-skinned persons, often with the intent to “other,” harm and/or humiliate G-d’s brown-skinned image-bearers—be they children or adults.
These conscious acts strategically targeted my skin color, hair texture, facial features, speech, intelligence and/or personhood.
Unsurprisingly, the majority of physical attacks or verbal assaults originated from emotionally wounded beige-skinned beings who consistently took jabs at my personhood, and who seemingly declined to grieve and process the curveballs—plus construct conditioning—life threw their way in childhood and/or adulthood.
From a historical perspective, this isn’t shocking. “It’s the rational ramification of chattel slavery,” as a former classmate once told me.
However, from a biblical perspective or Gospel-centered lens, this is profoundly problematic.
I’m preparing a “Starter Pack” (SP) document that will feature the top annoyances, assaults and abuses that millions birthed in my hue must daily manage decade after decade, as too many beige-skinned persons—whether they identify as Atheist, Buddhist, Catholic, Christian, Jewish or Muslim—appear to be consistently frightened, grieved, irritated or angered by the existence of darker-skinned women on G-d’s good and green Earth.
This forthcoming document isn’t intended to condemn persons with a beige complexion who practice these fruitless patterns; instead, it’s meant to serve as a self-reflectional document for those who want to engage with darker-skinned persons in a humanizing manner rather than a stereotypical framework.
As an independent writer and wanderer, I hope that my stories—built on expertise and 30-plus years of degrading life experiences—could be referenced in sermons, Bible studies or team meetings hosted by (predominantly) beige-skinned Believers who believe we’ve got a complexion crisis suffocating our globe, and who have no desire to ignore the systemic inequities or injustices that stem from skin tone bias.
If you subscribe to the Genesis storyline—and you believe the Jesus-rose-from-the-dead story is real—then you likely believe the Revelation storyline is true…and perhaps terrifying.
Now, I do not know much about this life or the next. However, I do know that our complexion-discriminatory society is not a coincidence, because division is not a coincidence.
Thankfully, this knowledge gives us Christians the home court advantage on Earth.
Meaning, because we understand that we no longer live in the Garden of Eden, we now have the honor of co-repairing our brokenhearted bubble with the G-d who breathed us into existence.
For me, partnering with my Creator looks like helping multi-hued church communities prepare for the party of all parties—a.k.a. the marriage supper of the Lamb—by reframing the narrative on pigmentation (and phenotypic) bias.
So, if you’re a curious Christian with a beige complexion who wants to reflect on what it means to love your brown-skinned neighbor as you love yourself—and you don’t mind reading boring stories or unorthodox think pieces from me—then, until I draft the SP document, I hope you’ll consider sharing this platform with your peers, as I slowly build it within this decade.
FYI/TMI: As of January 2025 A.D., I’m managing a few life stressors that are draining my capacity to fully execute my calling, and so I hope to furnish the aforementioned document by the end of next year.
This is assuming my life improves on the personal front, and there are no threats to my existence on the social front.
Your patience is appreciated,
Your melanated neighbor
